GO-GETTERS BNI TRACKS CHAPTER GOALS

"Keeping the chapter goals forefront in everyone's mind is what our Goal Boards are all about," states Wendy Carter, President of Go-Getters BNI. "If you can see it, you can monitor your progress. We're all there to make money, and this system provides a constant visual reminder of how we are doing." Every business knows that there are reasons to have goals: 1) what gets measured gets done; 2) everyone in the business is focused on working together for those goals; and, 3) friendly competition creates an atmosphere where everyone is challenged to do his or her best. The Goal Boards are updated each week so the members are always looking at them to see who has done the best week-to-week and where they need to focus their energy as a team. A recent visitor to the Go-Getters chapter summed it up by saying, "BNI says it's a business organization, and it behaves like a business! It is very integrated to actually have a business plan and to have the Goal Boards that illuminates that Plan for members and visitors!"

Success Corner
Economic Turbulence Underscores the Value of BNI

"As a marketing and public relations professional, I'm constantly having conversations with journalists. In a recent conversation, a writer for a business to business publication (California Executive), asked me if I knew of anyone (clients) that can discuss how they are moving forward during a tumultuous business climate. I thought about which clients I could refer to him before I realized that I had a lot to say about the subject. My business was thriving and this was largely due to my participation in BNI. The reporter noted that I had an optimism that is rare these days. I prefer to be pro-active and BNI is my ticket. Between the education, interaction and positive affirmation, my involvement in BNI keeps me moving in the right direction. It's not the only means Ileana International uses to market ourselves. But it is a very important part of the equation. If you're interested, check out the complete article at: www.cal-exec.com."

Termites Turn Into Big Job

What does a Termite-Pest Control professional have in common with a Limosine Driver? BNI! When Orange Coast BNI member Mohammad Favakeh found out his Home Owners Association dues were slated to increase because of termite control, he contacted fellow chapter member, Steve Smout. Steve met with the Association Board and the property management company and was able to save the Association a lot of money. In the process, he got the contract and acquired a $22,000 termite inspection project! A BNI member for 3 years, Steve says BNI has been very good for him. "First it has brought me out of my shell. I used to be uncomfortable talking in front of people, but BNI has helped me get over my shyness and get out in public more. It has also helped moved my business to a different level." He concludes, "BNI works because BNI people are upright and honest in their businesses. Not only do I receive business, but I am able to give back to my chapter members." - Steve Smout, Brittania Termite Solutions, Orange Coast BNI
